Windows Failure Configuring Windows Updates Reverting Changes
  1. Failure To Configure Windows Reverting
  2. Feedback

Hi there.I bought a new Samsung ultrabook less than a month ago and about two weeks ago ir started showing the following message 'Failure Configuring Windows Updates, reverting changes'. I've tried to do all of the steps adviced in here none seem to work. I even tried do a system restore but at the end, after i've waited like 1 hour, it said it wasn't possible, probably due to my anti-virus being on. I tried to switch it off and did it again, only to get the same message. Can anybody help me?I've read somewhere around here that if i copied some files, zipped it and posted here someone would be able to see what's wrong, so here is the link: in advance!Susana Oliveira. Hi Susana,If you're getting this message while trying to install a whole bunch of updates at the same time, you might be able to get them to successfully install by only installing a few updates at a time. It's a time consuming process (and quite annoying, I know),but that's how I've gotten around this issue at least once in the past. You're actually asking this question in the wrong forum though, this forum is meant for feedback on the TechNet website/subscriptions, not product support. You'll get better help with this issue in the Windows forums here:Good luck, hope it works out for you. Unfortunately your post is off topic here, in the TechNet Site Feedback forum, because it is not Feedback about the TechNet Website or Subscription.

Solution 2: Install the Windows Update in a Clean Boot State Sometimes, this problem can also occur due to errors in system services or functionalities. To avoid this from ruining your update process, switch your computer to a clean boot state. Oct 26, 2013  I've seen a ton of these threads but all the advice seems to be 'do this thing on your computer' and as the issue is the screen is stuck on 'Failure configuring windows updates, reverting changes' and I am unable to get past it to log in, that advice isn't all that relevant to me.

This is a standard response I’ve written up in advance to help many people (thousands, really.)who post their question in this forum in error, but please don’t ignore it. The links I share below I’ve collected to help you get right where you need to go with your issue. For technical issues with Microsoft products that you would run into as anend user of those products, one great source of info and help is, which has sections for Windows, Hotmail, Office, IE, and other products.

On second Tuesday of each month, Microsoft released important security update. On installing Windows update, it will reboot several times and before getting to the console message (Press Alt + Ctrl +Del), message is displayed ' Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer.' The above screen will remains for several hour even on 'Hard Reboot' and ' Safe Mode'.To resolve this issue and get server back to production, you need to perform following steps from any other computer from the network.1. Open ' Services.msc' on any working system.2. From 'Action' menu select ' Connect To another computer.'

If problem continue, follow the Step 4 and delete both the folder. ' SoftwareDistribution' from 'Windows' root folder. ' Repository' from 'system32wbem' root folder. After hard reboot, re-enable all the above services. On starting-up the services Windows will rebuild both the folder.

If you were installing Windows Updates, you will probably see that only few selected number of Windows Updates were installed. The remaining Windows Updates can now be installed without further hassle.
